Background Pioneer Water Tanks was established in 1988 with one goal in mind, to manufacture a quality water tank at a realistic price and at the same time eliminate problems associated with conventional water tanks. Our original design, known as the Corilock, was manufactured from rolling corrugated BlueScope Zincalume steel to form a hoop or ring and inserting a water proof membrane commonly known as a liner. It's fair to say that the final result exceeded our expectations. The tank was strong yet flexible thus compensating for earth movement. The mining industry adopted the product immediately. Blasting and heavy vehicles around the camp and mine site caused severe earth movement resulting in traditional concrete tanks cracking and therefore leaking.
The tank being a modular system was convenient to transport but the 3.0 metre panel length were still cumbersome to handle. In 1996 after two years of R&D we released our Galaxy Range. The improvements were subtle yet effective. Wall panels were reduced to 2.2 metres and a new look wall profile our 8-80 V-lock gave the tank a sleek aesthetic appearance. The addition of wind girts was used to hide protruding bolt ends making thetank tamper proof as well as stiffening and strengthening the tank. |
